Indian Army is planning to acquire 500 remote-controlled robots to carry out anti-terror activities in Jammu and Kashmir

It is not hidden, the kind of situations people have to go through every now and then in Jammu and Kashmir. And also it is known how many army personnel lost their lives while dealing with terrorists in J&K in order to protect the citizens. And after the big decision, by the Indian government to put an end on Article 370 in Kashmir has made the situations even worse in the area.

Keeping all the problems of the citizens and the army personnel in mind, the Indian Army is planning to acquire around 500 robotic remote-controlled vehicles. These robots will be armed with machine guns or rocket launchers.

The robots are going to the most dangerous work of combing the houses or rooms before a shootout or encounter the terrorists. Most of the times the security personnel use the homes of the citizens or villages as their shields from the terror attacks that are carried out from time to time.

According to some sources, the Ministry of Defense has started the process of acquiring nearly 550 robotics surveillance units with a service life of a minimum of 25 years for counter-insurgency ops in Jammu and Kashmir.

A senior Indian Army officer has informed that these robots will be capable of climbing stairs and dealing with obstacles. Also, these robots will be able to throw grenades at terrorists in built-up areas.

“These robots should be capable enough for water fording with minimum 20-cm depth,”

said the officer in a statement.

It is being said that these robots will help in preventing the causalities during the time of attacks as they will be the first line of defense in such situations.
