Islamabad/Pakistan:Former President of was born in Delhi during the British Raj, and raised in Karachi, Istanbul. A retired four-star general of the Pakistan Army has beensentenced to death by the Pakistan court. The trial against the former president was ongoing proceedings of high treason committed until 2001, denunciating his resignation to avoid impeachment in 2008.

Reports confirmthat on Monday the 16th of December, 2019. The former president Pervez Musharraf was admitted to an American hospital in Dubai after suffering from a “heart-related problem,” cited the reporters.

Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif instituted the high treason case against the former president, Pervez Musharraf; the trial was pending since 2013. The emergency declared in 2007, had sparked civil protests against Musharraf, enforcing him to resign from his post in the face of impeachment proceedings.

The honored court had ordered the former to record statements by December 5th. However, the former President failed to present himself at the court. Hence after, the three-judge special bench announced the verdict today morning, which they had reserved in November 2019; they sentenced Pervez Musharraf to death.

The former blatantly challenged the special court verdict and sought suspension of his trial in his absence due to medical reasons. The former requested the Lahore High Court to suspend the special court’s reserved verdict until the former is healthy enough to appear before the court for the proceedings.

“Musharraf wanted to record his statement and was ready to visit Pakistan, but he demanded foolproof security which was not provided by the Pakistani government. Musharraf is still in Dubai and is recovering from his sickness,”

Musharraf escaped at least three Al-Qaeda assassination attempts during his tenure in office and became a key U.S. ally in the “war on terror” agenda. The former’s rule faced no severe challenges until he tried to dismiss the Chief of Justice in March 2007. The nation protested and sparked hatred among the citizens of Pakistan against Musharraf, leading to months of turmoil, which ultimately led to the imposition of a state emergency by the former President of Pakistan Pervez Musharraf.
