Tesla: The Rivian, the electric-truck maker, is gearing up for its R1T pickup and R1S SUV production. The upcoming electric haulers have some keen-witted features to get excited about in the forthcoming event. The company on Thursday posted a video of the R1T truck performing a full 360 degree turns from a standstill.
The company expects its trucks and SUV to go on sale in late 2020, starting at $69,000 and $72,500, respectively and add in the Quad Motor Tank Turn to hike performance of the vehicles, as the company calls it, which will be available on both the R1T and R1S.
Rivian is arguably on the most anticipated electric-vehicle brands of the year, a perfect company standstill to rival Tesla. The company has pulled down investments from Amazon, Ford and Cox Automotive, including a recent 1.3 billion dollars infusion led by T. Rowe Price. The interest from such industry heavyweights has given Rivian a runaway for what could be a possible successful launch.
CEO RJ Scaringe expressed his confidence in a report,
“On-road, the vehicles are really exceptional – exceeding what you’d see in a performance SUV. Off-road, they’re really transformational. They’re really good.”
Scaringe said he believes that Rivian will ultimately beat Mercedes-Benz, BMW, and Audi. The German Motor Trio giants do not build electric passenger trucks. Still, they are all in various respective stages of development and production on their versions of electric SUVs for the U.S market.
As of now, the sources report that Tesla’s Cybertruck is expected to go into production in late 2021.
